1 Year as Community Lead - My Reflections 😌
I can’t believe it’s already been a whole year that I’ve been leading the People Builders Community! WOW, time flies.
This past year has been nothing short of transformative. When I first stepped into this role, I knew we had the potential to grow something unique, but what we’ve built together has far exceeded my expectations. We've cultivated a space where HR professionals, L&D experts, and forward-thinkers come together not just to solve problems but to reimagine the future of work.
I’ve reflected on the idea of leaning into uncertainty. Leading People Builders has often meant stepping out of my comfort zone, embracing uncertainty, and encouraging our members to do the same. It's in these moments of not knowing that we've seen the most growth—both individually and as a community. We've learned that it’s okay to not have all the answers; what matters is our commitment to continuous learning and our willingness to adapt.
As we’ve grown so rapidly, now with over 1,300 members, it’s clear that our community’s needs and desires are evolving. This is why we want to hear more from you, the members who make People Builders what it is. We’ll be sending out a survey next month to gather your feedback and insights. Your input will be instrumental in reshaping the future of our community, ensuring that it continues to serve you in the best way possible.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about the evolution of our community. The landscape is shifting rapidly, with AI, hybrid work, and the growing importance of mental health and well-being reshaping our roles. We are committed to be at the frontier of the future of work and that’s why this month we’ve concentrated on events and resources that are very topical, like exploring the future of DEI and the role of AI specifically within our industry.
To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you for your trust, your insights, and your commitment to making People Builders a place of true belonging.
Here’s to more building, learning, and leading—together.
NEW Mentorship Programme — A Very Exciting Opportunity 👯♀️
We are thrilled to officially launch our People Builders Mentorship Program! From navigating complex employee relations to leading diversity and inclusion initiatives, you are at the forefront of shaping organisational culture and strategy and these responsibilities require more than just technical knowledge—they demand a blend of experience, insight, and continuous learning.
Research consistently shows that mentorship is a powerful tool for professional development, especially for HR professionals who are often called upon to lead by example and drive organisational change.
Whether you’re a seasoned HR leader or just starting your career, the insights and guidance from a mentor can be invaluable in navigating the complexities of the HR field. Additionally, for those in a mentor role, the experience of guiding and shaping the next generation of HR leaders is equally rewarding, offering a chance to reflect on your journey and contribute to the broader HR community.
What is the mentorship program: a one off program that pairs experienced people leaders interested in mentoring with people leaders seeking mentorship. Matches are made based on factors like mentorship goals, job titles, location, experience, company size and more.
Time commitment: a period of 3 months (from October to December 2024) during this period mentors and mentees will have the opportunity to connect for monthly 1:1s mentorship sessions and to optionally join People Builders meetings to expand their network of trusted advisors and make the most of this opportunity.
Next Steps and Timelines:
Applications will be open until September 20th.
From September 1st to September 20th we’ll complete the matching process
Mentors and mentees will be invited to an interactive virtual meeting during the last week of September, to officially kick off the program
Your mentorship journey will begin in October.
We encourage you to apply early to secure your spot in this exciting program!
